New Year

Today is New Year Day. I will began the new year with a short reflection of the past year.

It was a very fun year. It was the year which I became an OAL. It was the year which I got confirmed. It was the year which me and my friends took over in our CCA. It was the year which i got my AM. It was a year filled with miracles.

However, it was also the year with the most amount of failures and setbacks. It was the year where old bonds are weakened and new bonds are not made. It was the year which my grandpa passed away. It was the year with the most number of regrets, like failing to study hard enough to beat C.S.M. and failing to become O.O.C.. It was also the most stressful year so far.

My resolutions for the new year:
1) Strengthen old bonds and make new bonds
2) Become top 30 in level
3) Perfect score for NAFA
4) Get (6-2) points for 'O' Levels
5) Live life to the fullest

How to say goodbye

Today I went out with some friends. Purpose? Cos Papaya is going overseas to study next year, so it was like a final gathering before she leaves. How sad...

...though the activities we do during this short gathering was not sad at all.

We went to catch a movie. We watched IP man. The show is quite nice. It has a very interesting plot. Technically, the camera angles and lighting are professional. Duh. I discovered some interesting techniques used in the show. However, I think that the show have too many fight scenes. About 40%-50% of the show is fight scenes. I don’t like the show in this aspect. Rating: 3/5.

The whole gathering had a lot of walking and talking. It was quite enjoyable.

However, still feel quite sad. HAIZ...

There are a lot of thoughts in my head and I finally come to a conclusion:
Nothing lasts forever, thus we should cherish very thing around us. Who knows? They may be gone tomorrow. YOU may be gone tomorrow.

If you are going to die tomorrow, what will you do? The best way to strength bonds is to do those things now.

HAIZ

jingle bells, jingle bells

A few days ago, I went to Nick Wan’s Christmas party. It was really good. There were good food, good music and a nice amount if people. It was the most Christmas-like party I ever attended. There was a really gorgeous Christmas tree and a nice choir carolling. The air was filled with the spirit of Christmas. It was almost perfect.

However, I really do hope that we could do more stuff other than talking and taking pictures. Well, talking is nice but it would have been nicer if we talk while playing board games or something like that.

Rating: 9.99/10 haha

Jingle all the way

Finally...

After working for a long long time, i finally completed it.

Song: How to say goodbye - Michael W.Smith

Swimming Lessons

I realized that I haven’t blog about them yet.

‘Swimming lessons’ is to make it sound more innocent. To be exact, it is a hybrid of swimming and life saving lessons.

To be honest, swimming lessons are quite slack and boring sometimes, especially if we do normal swimming. I am the Michael Phleps there. My personal best for 50m freestyle is 30s. Not bad rite? So, it is quite slack unless I push myself to the limit. Which I do… sometimes.

The life saving part is quite interesting cos I always screw up and get scolded. I may be the best in terms of speed, but I am definitely not the best in terms of knowledge and skill.

For instance, yesterday, I got told off for using the phrase ‘Don’t Panic!’ too many times during rescue. (Actually, it is the ONLY phrase I use during rescue. HAHA) I should say something else. Then, my mom suggested that I should say ‘Don’t Panic!’ in other languages in case the casualty doesn’t understand English. I think it is a really nice (and funny) idea, so I will try it out next week. HAHA.

Then, normally after a swimming lesson, I will visit my grandma house. And, I will probably be playing hand phone games there.
After that, I will go home and sleep.

Wat is the name this song?

It is hard to say goodbye,
there is so much more we need to share together.
It is hard to reason why,
and yet we know this can't go on forever

There are so much we need to know,
places we need to go,
a brand new set of friends we yet to find.

There are dreams we need to live,
love we need to give,
but nothing can replace the way we feel.

Down deep inside,
down deep inside.

This is my p6 graduation song. It is really really nice, but i don't know what it is called. Anyone know or have the song, please tell me or send it to me.

Anyway, today, i went out with Grape, Lemon and Chili. We did bowling together. I realised that i am lousy in bowling. HAHA.

ACT1V8

Receive the power..

From 4-5 Dec, I went to “The Conference’. It was fun. The sessions make me dam high. Now I feel very hyped up after all the jumping and singing.

The praise and worship sessions are very memorable. We became crazy when singing songs like ‘As it is in heaven’ or ‘Your grace is enough’. I kept jumping and singing at the top of my voice when singing those songs. IT rocks. After the last praise and worship session, I was so hyper that I couldn’t even cap my water bottle properly. It really really rocks.

There is also another interesting (and embarrassing) thing that happened there. Eggplant got dumped in his face!

‘What is your name?’
‘Pumpkin’

‘Can I have your number?’
‘No.’

HAHAHA

Eggplant went home after that. He shouldn’t have went home cos he if he didn’t he could have stopped Kiwi from letting the whole church know about it.

The past two days have been really memorable. I have to make sure that it will not get deleted from my hard disk. HAHAHA. When did a lot of things. We have a few people shared with us their history, how the Holy Spirit help them in their life. O ya! The plays were also very funny and interesting. I like it. The video is not bad. Here is a critic.

I feel that some of the effects, especially the face distortion part, are unnecessary. Those effects are a little overboard. It will make the video look unprofessional.

I have a distant impression that Mr. Apple knows one of my deeper secrets.

COC part 1

Today, I went for the COC rehearsal.

At first, it was very slack and fun. Our drills are quite good, we have more praises than scolding. Our CLTs, although not the best, were very nice. They make really funny jokes like:

‘Give me good drills and I will give you the number of any girl in the female contingent. I have the nominal roll.’
‘HAHAHA’

We also a nice time suaning orange.

‘Orange has broken the Guinness Book of records for having the lowest IQ to solve 1+1.’
‘HAHAHA’

‘Orange, stop being orange’
‘HAHAHA’

It was fun while it lasted.

We had 1 rehearsal. The rehearsal was very very boring and long. The front part of the rehearsal was ok, we did some drills like marching and omat senjata. I really hate the later part of the parade where we stand there and do nothing for about 30 minutes, cannot fidget, under the sun.

But what really really piss me off is when Orange FALL OUT! I feel that it is more courageous to endure than to fall out and become a disgrace to our unit, platoon, district. Even if you faint in the process, you will be known as the one that has the courage to endure to the very end.

We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France,
we shall fight on the seas and oceans,
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight on the beaches,
we shall fight on the landing grounds,
we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,
we shall fight in the hills;
we shall never surrender

'Memories are playing like film without sound'

After getting my bike fixed, I cycled to Kerbun Baru Primary School (CHS primary former campus). It brought back many old memories.

The journey there was shorter than I imagined. It was easy, except for the steep slopes near St. Nic. Those slopes remind me of sec 3 camp. If you were to cycle up and down those slopes 100 times, you will have a nice idea of what sec 3 camp is like.

When I reach there, I want to go into the school compound, but it was locked. So, I can only look at it from outside. Despite that, it still brought back many old memories. I remembered how we caught grasshoppers in the field; how I stood outside the staffroom during recess; how we kicked sand around in the field and got our shoes dirty; how we ran around the tracks during TAF...

'Memories are playing like film without sound'

I cycled a few rounds around the school before heading home.

con. camp

30 minutes later, i was on the bus. I kept worrying that I will be late cos I did not have a watch to confirm.

When I reached the church, I sensed that something was wrong. IT was silent. There was no noise, no movement, no one. I went to the parish office to inquire. I met father Gerard and realize that I was supposed to go to Sembawang challenge camp directly! Almost died. I took a cab there. It exhausted all my funds. I was almost late.

What a nice warm up before the camp.

After registration, they divide us into groups. They screwed it up a little. My name was called twice, in two different groups. In the end, I was pushed into pineapple’s group cos they have a lesser amount of people.

After that, they show us an ‘Oscar’ winning video. Here are my comments for that video and the rest of the videos that are shown in the camp. I think that thy put in a lot of effort in making the videos. The content was good.

However, technically, it is not so good. They made two unforgivable mistakes which is commonly made in many home made videos.

1) Poor audio. They should record the video and sound separately.
2) Very weird, MOVING, camera angles. It made the video very messy. Good neat videos are filled with fixed, still camera angles. Moving camera angles should not be attempted unless the camera can be moved in a uniform speed.

The ice breakers was interesting, I think that my group is good. There was a bit of communication between group members. I will rate them 3/5. It was OK while we were working on the task. It was fun when we opened numbers to decide who to do stuff. But outside that, it was crap. The girls talk among themselves and the guys were stoning. We only communicated while working on a task.

During bedtime, it was not easy to sleep. I did not sleep as early as I seem. Actually, I was only pretending to be asleep when they turned the fan to their side cos I hate the cold. I want to sleep so I had to focus on something. I was deciding which world I should go to. (The main worlds in my mind are: Philosophy world, Science world, Manga world, Crush world and reality) I decided that I shall venture into the crush world tonight. Hmm… What will happen if she is in my group? I pondered as I slowly melt into dreamland.

The morning PT was pathetic. My arms are really itchy, I want to do push ups. I want to run. Ahh!!! I was ready to show my power but they give us such a pathetic PT. Dam them.

The sessions after that were really interesting. The session Mr. Apple took was fun. It was about doing something (Anything) to kill time. It is fun.

The most interesting session was Father Gerard’s Session about Sin, Life, Death and the apocalypse. I was really interested as they are the main topics in my philosophy world. I paid attention to this session.

Writing warm fuzzies was OK, except the special one for Ms Mangosteen. I had a headache while thinking. Should I even write at all? What should I write? Then, I remembered a certain recount Mr. Apple told us. It was about him and his wife. I decided to use a certain phrase in that recount to my advantage.

That night we had reconciliation. It was the best reconciliation I ever had. I spent all the time reflecting carefully. I even confessed my darkest sins. I felt really great after saying them out loud. It was really good.

During bedtime, I ventured into philosophy world. What are elements are greater than death? (God, life, love, happiness, memory, love…) However, thinking of those require a lot of RAM, I will not be able to sleep if I kept thinking of those stuff. In the end, I slept thinking which world should I switch to.

I woke up at 6+, close to 7am. I decided that I should not sleep anymore as I should have sometime to warm up before they wake everybody up. So I set on my bed for a long long time. After that I went to wash up. I expect everyone to wake up when I returned. However, I came back and still find everyone sleeping. So I sat on my bed and think of possibilities (obviously something is wrong), reflect on the past few days, spin my pen, worrying what will happen after Ms Mangosteen read the special fuzzy…

They finally decided to wake everyone up at 9.00am. This means I sat on my bed for two hours! I found out that wake us up so late cos a tragedy happened last night while I was sleeping. Many people woke up but I was sleeping like a pig, thus I do not know anything until then.

After that we prayed for the people who are hurt in the tragedy and wrote get well cards.

The collection of warm fuzzies was interesting. I have a nice number of warm fuzzies. I wanted to vanish on the spot when I saw Ms Mangosteen reading her warm fuzzies. I think I am pathetic. AHHH!

After that we had mass.

The end.

I think this post is rather brief. If i go into details, it will be x2 this length

30 minutes

In roughly 30 mins, it is my confirmation camp! Dam excited.

I decided to bring my sleeping bag for this camp, even though they stated that it is not necessary cos we are sleeping in bunks and i will look stupid with a sleeping bag. However, i think that it will be really cold at night, from past experiences, cos i am sleeping with crazy people whose life ambition is to sleep in north pole. Thus a sleeping bag will make a good blanket.

Will be back on sunday

Library CIP

I have been doing CIP in AMK library. Last Thursday was the last day. I did 3 hrs everyday, for 10 days. Thus, I would have gained 30 hrs of CIP. Besides that, I also have a great time. It was a very interesting experience.

I did shelving for the first 3 days. Although it was boring, but I kinda miss it. I have to arrange books in alphabetical order, neatly on the shelves. I think it was very beneficial. If I were to do shelving for 10 days straight, I should be able to recite all the alphabets in reverse order.

However, on the fourth day, there was a change of staff. The new batch of staff has enough people to do shelving, so the CIP students do not do shelving anymore. Instead of shelving, they made me promote the email notification service instead. It was quite interesting; I met some people from school. However, the fun did not last, it gets boring very quickly. I soon find myself glancing at my watch very 5 mins.

On the eightieth day, they felt that very little people come to the library on weekends, so they gave me a new job. They made me scan through children books and discard books that were old or torn. It was more interesting. At least I get to read some fairytale when no one was looking.

The ninth day was the most interesting. When I was scanning through the books, one library staff suddenly yelled, ‘lets play donkey’. So, they all went into a room and played donkey. From the laughter emitting from the room, I can infer that they were having a great time. I was quite shocked when I see this happening. I didn’t know it was so fun working.

After they were done with the game, they came out of the room discussing on how the forfeit was too light and what should the forfeit be the next time they play. The new forfeit is that the loser must wear a hat saying ‘I am the donkey’ as long as he is in the office. LOL

However, someone change the topic halfway. They went on to discuss about a serious subject, politics, in a not so serious manner. They discuss about how politicians whack their opponents with microphones. LOL. It was very nice; there was a lot of fun and laughter on that day.

biking in the rain

Today is my second session of biking in the holidays. It was an interesting experience. I intend to cycle to kebun baru pri school (Catholic High School Primary’s former campus). I did not manage to reach there the previous time cos I got lost and went to AMK secondary school than to pierce instead.

I started to make my way there after two rounds of warm up in Bishan park. However it rained very heavily when I was half way there. I decided it was too heavy and I cannot carry on my journey. So, I decided to cycle in a random void deck to hide from the rain.

Cycling in the void deck made me realized that it is more courageous, more exciting to cycle in the rain compared to hiding in a void deck, Anyone can hide, the strong are those that dare to face challenges instead of hiding from it. I decided to cycle home in the rain.

I cycled very slowly, not because I am afraid that I will fall, but because I cherish the moment. I want to remember how the rain pound against my face, how the rain tastes like water, how my wet shirt sticks on my skin.

It was an interesting experience. I love interesting experiences.

Toys Buffet

I went for the Toys Buffet CIP, not because I need CIP hours, but cos I am inspired by the manga Aishiteruze Baby. After reading that manga, I feel that taking care of kids is really fun, so I signed up for this CIP.

This event did not go as I fantasized. It was crowded, chaotic and badly planned. There were a lot of people, about 130+ sec2s, 90 more people from other schools and only 2 SEC3s, me and toufu. There were people that did all the work and people that did nothing at all. The slackers have hours of free time. ( I saw some ACS people playing bridge) The enthusiastic did not even have proper lunch. There is also a serious lack of communication. Many child ambassadors do not even know when is each shift coming or leaving.

Despite all the negative points, I enjoyed it. It was fun.

I was hoping to be a child ambassador so that I can interact with kids. However, I landed in a ‘Special Special Force’. If they had been honest, it would have been called Sai-Kang Group. They made us shift about 100 crates of drinks from the storeroom, to the stage, to the back stage and then to the canteen. After that, we have almost nothing to do. However, even though there were about 100 child ambassadors, 50 of them were slacking. Thus there was a shortage of manpower. So we were told to become child ambassadors and take care of kids. YAY!

Toufu left at 4pm. So I became the only sec3 there. Sucks to be me.

It ended at about 5.30pm. After that was cleaning up time. I stacked chairs, packed leftover toys and picked up rubbish. I was the only sec3 there so I have a give-me-something-to-do-and-I-will-do-it attitude as I do not want to be left out. After we cleaned the place, we helped the primary school teachers to arrange 300 chairs cos they have a mammoth activity, called primary 1 registration. In the end, I went home at about 7.30pm although the event ended at 5.30pm.

Note: Do not get the wrong idea. The way I write seem like I regretted participating. However, the truth is, I enjoyed it. I liked it. I do not regret attending it. It was a meaningful experience. It was fun. It was a good deed.

Leadership camp

Leadership camp, like my other events, has become a mere memory. If I do not pen it down, it will soon dilute and fade into darkness.

I feel that this camp was a failure although it was slightly better than annual camp. I definitely improved a lot in minesweeper and little fighter two during this camp.

Day 1
Woke up at 5.30am, intend to reach school by 6am. However, I realized that I forgot to print out the first aid slides! I got them printed and reached school at about 6.20am.

The camp starts with the traditional bag check. I took group 5. In this activity, me and papaya scolded and pumped them a little. I feel that they are ok compared to other groups.

After that was supposed to be a hoing, hell night-like activity. We are supposed to make them put their bags in their bunks, come down, go up take their bags, come down for 5 times. However, this activity was cancelled, making me utterly disappointed.

After that, I had a long break, about 2 hours, before my first aid slides. I went to the pri school canteen and brought breakfast and 3 oreyas. It was supposed to last until the end of the camp but I think I finished all of them before day2 lunch.

After that was my first aid lesson. After that was lunch.

After that was IFC. I was teaching movement by day. It was a really fun, did crazy stuff like lying down in the middle of the track before the next group comes. One group jacked me! I taught them already but they came back to m station. I didn’t know that I taught them already and carried on teaching. They made me teach for 10 mins before telling me that I taught them already. Mean sia!

The next main activity was their cadet’s night and presentation planning, together with their interview. Jackfruit purposely shouted and scolded into at no one to make them think that the interview was really scary.

Near the end of their cadet’s night planning, something bad happened. Jackfruit scolded ‘banana’ for something which was really quite minor. He almost made banana leave the camp. I can tell banana was really scared and almost cried. I feel quite sad as I did not expect all this to happen.

After that was supper and then bed time. I was trying to boil some hot water so that I can have some hot milo before tomorrow’s PT. It took a very long time to boil. In the end, I slept at about 1.30pm. I intend to wake up at 5.30am tomorrow to have some hot milo before PT.

Day 2
However, I slept too well. I woke up at 6.15. PT starts at 6.30! It was really hard to change to half 4 as it was dark and everyone was sleeping. In the end, I was about 5 mins late for pt.

PT was slack, so slack that I decided to pump them 50+50+50 near the end of the PT.

After that was breakfast.

After that was slack time. I have about 7 hours of slack time. I slept a little, finish up all my oreyas, played minesweeper, played little fighter 2.

I joined them again during laser quest. I didn’t know that it was so fun. The laser quest experience I had during p5 made me feel that it was crap. However, it was really fun and I regretted not participating.

After that, I went to buy dinner with Brandon. Dinner was fish ball noodle and bubble tea. After that was cadet’s night. Some of them were really funny. After that was supper.

After that was sentry. I was very fun. My year, they concentrated more on the guards, raiding their store. This year, we concentrated more on attacking the sentry. Here are the major highlights of the sentry route.

  1. The canteen. I don’t know what really happened but it supposed to be really nice. First, only the lights above the water cooler will be on. As they approach the water cooler we will suddenly off the lights. Then, they will panic and we will attack them. One person will die at this stage.
  2. As they move to the pri school side, there will be an attack. One person will die at this stage.
  3. My station. I will pretend to be a ghost, under my sleeping bag, to attract their attention. As they advance towards me, thy will not notice Samuel behind them. Samuel will shoot them from behind. One person will die at this stage.
  4. As they move to the chapel, there will be an attack. 1 person will die at this stage.
  5. The piano station. This station is fun, only shift 1 made it here. We will play the piano to attract their attention. As they move towards the guy at the piano, the other NCOs will attack them from behind All will die at this stage.
  6. The final place, the D and T toilet. Benedict and Ernest will attack them. They are not supposed to survive the previous stage.
Only two people, I think, survived the route, all from shift 1. Not that they are good, it is because we planned to let two people survive from shift 1. I think shift 2 was really good but we decided that all shift 2 people will die. Shift 3 was screwed up.

Day 3
I woke up late, about 10 am, cos I slept at bout 5.30am. I helped out at the tests. After that, we packed our stuff and go home

Interesting day

Two very interesting activity happened today and i want to talk about it.

Activity 1: Helping out in Sec 2 games

I was given a choice, should I watch a movie during the Chinese intensive programme or should I help out in the sec 2 games. I decided to help out in the sec 2 games instead of the movie as it is a more meaningful activity compared to watching a movie.

My job is to control the crowd. A first, it was very chaotic. There are people all over the place. However, when everything settled down, it became very boring. Most of the sce2s are playing games (Soccer, Captain’s Ball, Floor ball), the rest are allowed to walk about and cheer for their friends. There is actually not much crowd to control. Also I don’t want to spoil their mood by shouting at them, do I have almost nothing to do.

However, it soon became interesting as Banana, kiwi and mango are bored too. We got a handball and start playing with it randomly. It was quite fun, I enjoyed it.

I did not reject opting to help out in the sec2 games. It is a much interesting experience compared to watching movie.

Activity 2: Helping someone special

I went to Bishan library to borrow a book. On my way home, I saw a disabled person on a wheelchair trying to sell some biscuits, yet everybody that pass by her treated her as if she is invisible. That reminded of the trouble I had during Flag Day, trying to get people to donate. I felt that I should buy some biscuits from her.

However, there is another side of me urging me not to help and just go home. It is telling me the consequences that I may have to face if I help. ‘What will others think of me?’ was the main worry I have that stops me from helping.

I read an article in empathy a few days ago. That day, I vowed to show more empathy to the people around me. This memory gave me the courage and overcome my fears. I went up to her with the intent of giving her 5 bucks without taking any biscuits. However, in the end, I still took the biscuits. It goes like this.

“Here is five dollars; you don’t have to give me any biscuits,” I said.

“One packet for two dollars,” she said.

“Well then, I will take two, keep the change,” I said.

I was very happy after that, very pleased with myself.

‘What will others think of me?’ ANS: A cool secondary school kid who have a kind soul.

Saikano

Saikano AKA The Last love song on this little planet AKA Saishuu Heiki Kanojo

I bumped onto this brilliant manga and wants to talk about it.

The story begins with Shuji and Chise falling in love. Shuji is very unsure of his initial feelings for Chise and feels that their relationship is more trouble than its worth, though his feelings deepen as the story progresses.

Chise is a shy, clumsy girl with very little self-esteem and has poor grades in everything except for World History.

However, after an air raid in Sapporo, Shuji found out that Chise is actually a War Machine. She is a Cyborg and is in the army. She constantly helps Japan fight their invaders.

The series revolves around her and her fading humanity, the more she uses her powers, the less human she becomes. Soon, weapon-side starts to take over her body. In the end, her love for Shuji is the last of her humanity she can cling onto.

The happy parts in the story are very sweet (Chapter1-10, Chapter 60-72), however, the tragic parts (middle) in the story are very very tragic. Thus, I don’t recommend this manga if you are very emotional.

The manga has a lot of nice morals. I realize that power isn’t very important, every thing fade away in the face of death, making everyone equal. Instead of gathering more power, we should spend our loving, cherishing the people around us, making a difference in their lives.

The ending reminds me of a quote for Steve Jobs, ‘Everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.’ I really liked this manga very much.

Rating 9/10

Now, I am into romance mangas. ^-^

15-10-08

Today is quite interesting, due to script check and challenge quest trainings.

Today is the third day of the morning trainings with Watermelon. We have been training for Challenge Quest and have been pumping 100 every morning for the last two days. However, today he can only pump until 50 because his muscles have not fully recovered from the last two sessions yet. He will become stronger when his muscles heal.

After that is script check. Today, we checked SS, English and Chemistry. I did well for SS and Chemistry, average for English.

I feel that SS script check was the most boring. From the SS script check, I made an amazing discovery. I realized that sour lime is crazy! I am glad that I have grape and not lime. Lime felt that a lot of time will be wasted if we are not seated in index number. In the end, we wasted more time because crazy lime arranged us until we are seating according to index number. Also, I found out that crazy lime scold very well. It spent 20 mins for the 1st question, 50% of that time was wasted in scolding, even though it was considered acceptable for most fruits.

NOTE: I set a virus that activates if lime tries to access my blog and read this post. It will definitely crash her computer and any one who read it if it is activated.

I enjoyed English the most. Pineapple, mango and jackfruit, presented their stuff and put their point across very well. I really liked the part where they go through some funny mistakes we made while writing compositions. It was really fun.

I am very satisfied with my Chemistry results. Although I did not make it in to the hall of fame, I got a respectable score. I am two marks away from entering the hall of fame. Instead of feeling sad, I feel quite relived. I thought I got much worse.

The Challenge Quest training was interesting. I did not do any planning beforehand; I think it was smooth although it was short. Horny Johnny could not make it cos he has Chinese remedial, so I have to train watermelon and banana alone. We did 110 sit ups, 80 push ups (watermelon’s arm was still aching) and 5 rounds. The most challenging was the 5 rounds around the track, I nearly died! Lucky I said 5 rounds, I would have died if I said anymore. We came back, as a whole, with a respectable timing of 9min 17.58 sec. Generally, I think that the training was short but sweet.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR CHALLENGE QUEST… TO SHOW MY POWER

Note: All the names are not real, to protect myself from getting into trouble.

Exams are over...

… but I can confused. By right, I should be happy. Am I happy?

I am happy because exams are over. I can finally take a short break from mugging. I feel like a bird that is finally set free, free to do all the things that I like. I got dam a lot of free time, no need to go to school for two days! I can finally do the things I want to do before the exams.

However, I am not really happy. I feel kinda lost. Everything happened too fast. I had intensive mugging for about 8 days straight, cannot relax, almost all my time is invested on studies. Then, all of a sudden, I am free to do anything I want… too free, so free that I do not know what to do with all the excess time. There is so much time and so little to do.

So I sat down and think. What should I do with all this excess time? I kinda lost interest in computer games already. I dislike going out too often. I don’t want to waste my time. I don’t want to study. I don’t know what to do.

I manage to produce this list after thinking for some time.

1) Research on Challenge Quest
2) Train more, do 200+100+100 push ups every day. (Cannot wait to show my power during Challenge Quest)
3) Start working on first aid slides for leadership camp. (Waste time now for more time later)
4) Sign up for CIP to do during holidays. (Later fully booked, cannot do CIP)
5) Work on an AMV (Always wanted to make a good one but no time)
6) Read more mangas
7) Exercise more
8) Plan for my next PT and the PT after that and the PT after that… (Must try to make it more interesting)
9) Post more

After I think about it, there are a lot of things I need to do!

brief review

Here is a brief review on what happened this week…

Monday and Tuesday was hell, but Thursday and Friday is heaven. It keeps getting easier and easier… perhaps I am getting used to the intensive mugging and nervousness.

In my opinion, the most challenging paper was physics, it was the most difficult physics paper I ever did. Personally, I like physics very much, but I dun think I will do well for this paper. I will be very happy if I get an A2.

The most memorable paper I did was social studies. This is what happen after the paper...

Invigilator: The second last guy on the last row, the one wearing a black jacket, see me later for talking to the people on your right.

She made 3 mistakes. First, that guy was at least 7 seats from the last guy, dunno how she count. Second, there was no one on his right. Third, it is column, not row. We gave her a magnificent round of applause for her mastery in maths.

I feel that the easiest paper was Amaths. Those who think that Amaths was very hard, good luck. A lot of people, including me, felt that Amaths was easy. When I finished, I still have about an hour left. I think that I have a dam high chance of 90+/100 for Amths.

In conclusion...Haiz, I cannot wait for exams to be over… just 4 more days…

Quote of the week: ‘WIN THE WAR’

Haiz

Yawn. Today I am dam tired cos I slept at 1.30am yesterday. I started working on homework at 11.30 pm after mugging. When I finished it, it was around 1.30am already. Morale of the story: Do homework before mugging.

This week has been a very boring and tiring week… thanks to FYE. Everyday is like go to school, go home mug and then sleep. I cannot wait for FYE to be over. Then cca will resume, I will have more time to slack, more time to read mangas. HAIZ.

Romance Manga

I normally read action-packed manga like Naruto and One Piece. I do not really read romance manga until lately cos I bumped onto the manga called ‘Bitter Virgin’.

A very good tragic manga that is a seriously toned and does not contain any pornography, even though the title sounds a bit sick.

For me the manga is very sad. The whole manga, we can see from the name of the chapters itself tell us about the story. (her tragedy. her horror, her grief, her step, etc.) Unlike most romance mangas, it does not combine any romance with action or comedy or fantasy. I like it because it is serious, real and has a very interesting plot.

The manga touches on some issues such as androphobia, love, rape, stillbirth... It's taught me a lot about the kind of experience those people go through, the feelings they have.

I will recommend this for mature readers to read, not those that thinks romance = pornography. Can be found in onemanga.com.

Also, if anyone knows of a manga similar to bitter virgin, pls tell me. Thanks.

What is art?

There is once a very famous artist. He was walking on the streets and felt like peeing. So he went to a toilet to pee. In the toilet, he saw a very ancient, dirty, digesting toilet bowl. Normally, one will leave the poor toilet bowl alone after peeing. However, he thought it was fine art. So, he signed on it and brought it into a museum. The poor toilet bowl is still in that museum today!

There is another famous artist. He used a spade and dug a 1 metre deep hole in the ground. After he finished digging the hole, he filled the hole with what he had just dug out. One may think he is crazy and wasting his time. However he claimed that the process is fine art.

What exactly is art? Is art music? Is art a painting? Is art a sculpture? Is art literature? Is art good food? Is art an idea? Is art a person with good character? Is art crap? Is art beauty? Is art an expression? Is art a soul? Is every single rubbish we have made called art?

To a musician, good music makes fine art. However, to a cook, good music can be rubbish. Good food is fine art. Art to one person may not be art to another.

Art is everything, yet nothing. It is merely a perspective.

Endurance

A junior once asked me, ‘does being in triple science increase your chances in getting one of the top five posts?’

I hastily said no, without giving much thought. Now that I think about it, I could have given a better answer.

Does being in triple science increase your chances in getting one of the top five posts? Three fifth of the top 5 post are triple science people this year. This means majority of the top 5 post are triple science people, despite the fact that triple science people are minority in the level.

Being in triple science indeed increases your chances of a top 5 post. However, the main reason these people have the top 5 post, these people are successful is not because they are in triple science. The main reason is that they have the virtues, the qualities, the spirit never to give up. Even when faced with extreme difficulties, they push themselves harder to test their limits. This is why they are one of the top 5. This is why they are in triple science. This is why every single good thing on earth is happening to them.

Even if you think that you cannot get the top five posts, don’t give up. It is not about the post, it is about the qualities in you. Those succumb under difficulties, who think it is hopeless and gives up easily are the truly weak ones.

Same goes for parades. Many fall out during parade just because they think that they are going to faint. Do you really think you are powerful enough to faint yet? Those people that faint are those that have parade 6 hours long. Our pathetic parades are not more than 2 hours long. Do you think making yourself faint is that simple?

If you fall out, you will be known as the coward, who does not dare to try, that gives up once faced with difficulties. If you were to try, even if you faint, you will be known as the one that tried his best and lasted till the very end. Who do you want to be?

I hope the right people will read this.

More inslight

Many ppl did this kind of stuff in their blog which i think it is kinda stupid. However, i will be doing it once so that you can know me better.

A typical monday...
+-6.30: Wake up time… no point in sleeping another 15mins, it will not make any difference.

7.10-7.30: If nothing to do, play chess. I play international chess, but playing more Chinese chess this few days. (Many ppl dun know I play chess. I considered joining chess club but felt that I will not be committed, so didn’t join)

7.30-8.10: Assembly. After that, if nothing to do, play chess.

8.10-9.50: Double Chinese! My Chinese sucks. Double Chinese is like another two periods wasted, not like I am going to count it in my L1R5. But I must put in some effort in Chinese, at least a B for ‘O’ level.

9.50-10.40: A Maths!! I love A Maths. Mr Leong rocks!!

10.40-11.30: Quite boring, but at least I learn something. Cannot wait for recess.

11.30-12.00: Recess. Meet Samuel, go canteen buy food and then come back to class.

12.00-12.45: Bio. Feeling very sleepy, cos jus have recess. I think Mr Goh’s way of teaching have something to do with feeling sleepy also…zzz…

12.45-13.35: Geography. Another period wasted. Mr Yong waste a lot periods for stuff like research on com lab, going around school to take pictures…

13.35-14.30: English… OK lah…

14.30-16.00: Meet Samuel and then go eat lunch and talk cork.

16.00-dinner: Go home and rest for a while.

After dinner- 21.30: Mug, revise…

21.30-23.00: Physics Project…

Unhappy birthday

Haha... lol... bumped into this video. I didn't know happy birthday song got copyright.

There are a lot of nice videos on youtube regarding copyright. A lot of ppl are pissed with youtube for deleting their videos because of copyright violations.

According to youtube, they are deleting it as the music/video companies claim that people do not want to buy their products anymore since they can get it free on youtube. Therefore they put pressure on youtube and made youtube delete videos that use copyrighted material.

What those music/video companies fail to see is that those videos are actually free promotion. Those people that upload do not make any money. By uploading only give those music/video free promotion

This is the same for school projects.

Those companies nowadays have really poor eyesight.

Spec Course reflection

I came to spec course with the ‘2SG can liao’ attitude. However, after I see the standard of other schools, just getting 2SG is no kicks. I decided to aim for OOC (Overall Outstanding Cadet). It was a very achievable goal. The other schools came very unprepared, some didn’t even know what topic they doing for mutual! I worked hard for OOC.

Blinded by this dream, I became very sad when I was not even short listed for OOC.

Now, as I reflect, I feel that there must be some quality that I lack, the quality that differentiate between an OOC and nothing. Is it the gift of speech? Is it the nerve to try, to dare? Or is it a combination of everything? I must improve to be the best among equals.

I will not be stuck in the past. Merely attempting to make all Part Cs get 2SG is the past. Now i have a new dream, it is to make all of them OOCs. My next move is to prepare them for spec course next year, make sure that they excel. This year RGS got almost everything. They all pioneers some more. Losing to them is unbearable.

Aim: all awards given to Cat High for next year spec course.

Before that I must find out what is the quality I lack to teach my Part Cs. I will turn this dream into reality.

spec course

Here is what I know about spec course… I gather this information by going through posts on spec course.

Day 1: It will most probably be revision for the 1st part of the day. However, I think that there will be GSK test in the night.

Day 2: All the tests will be completed in day2. For the test, must be as detailed as possible. Also, the OOCs will be short listed on that day. The short listed OOCs will spent the night drilling, doing PT and getting interviewed. The first question for interview is “you have 30 seconds to introduce yourself”.

Day 3: Award giving and photo taking… I think

That’s all that I know. If you know anything else it will be great if you mention it, so that we can be more prepared. All this is what I think will happen during spec course. It may not be true.

AKE?

Haiz, dam sad sia

Cannot go for AKE anymore… the story goes like this…

We are 14th when we go there, 2nd when we came back. There were 40 people in MKE.

After MKE, the CLT say me and Jared qualify for AKE. However, I voiced out that AKE clash with spec course. Then the CLT ask me if I choose spec course or AKE. Of course spec course lah, spec course more important.

The sir gave us the MKE badge and tells us we can come for AKE if we change our mind.

I then send the email to one of the AKE organizers to ask for special arrangements for me and Jared, if we can leave 1 day earlier. After that he called me. The conversation goes like this:

Sir: Hello are you WX
ME: Yes

Sir: Did you receive MKE badge?
Me: Yes, actually we qualify for AKE. When we voiced this matter out during MKE. The sir ask us of we choose AKE or spec course. I choose spec course cos it is more important. The sir then gave us the MKE badge and tells us we can still come for AKE if we change our mind.

Sir: WHAT? The sir tell you that you can come for AKE? What is that sir name?
Me: I dunno

Sir: Is he Chinese or Malay?
Me: Chinese

Sir: You guys trust your CLTs too much. The CLT lie to you. I cannot let you go for AKE cos you took the MKE badge. If you need time to consider, you can dun take the badge, go home and think first. Anytime can come down and take if you want the MKE badge. Sorry you cannot go for AKE.
Me: Ok (Feeling dam sad)

I feel dam sad sia, cannot go for AKE. Only 3 air cadets qualify, minus me and Jared, only one air cadet going.

Haiz… must get 2SG for spec course.

PS: My English dam bad, got a lot of mistakes.

Did God create evil?

Summerised version

A University professor at a well known institution of higher learning challenged his students with this question. "Did God create everything that exists?"

A student bravely replied, "Yes he did!"

"God created everything?" The professor asked.

"Yes sir, he certainly did," the student replied.

The professor answered, "If God created everything; then God created evil. And, since evil exists, & according to the principle that our works define who we are, then we can assume God is evil."

The student became quiet & did not respond to the professor's hypothetical definition. The professor, quite pleased with himself, boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the religious faith was a myth.

Another student raised his hand & said, "May I ask you a question, professor?"

"Of course," replied the professor.

The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?"

"What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?"

The other students snickered at the young man's question. The young man replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat.
Everybody or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, & heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-460F) is the total absence of heat; & all matter becomes inert & incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat."

The student continued, "Professor, does darkness exist?"

The professor responded, "Of course it does."

The student replied , "Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact, we can use Newton's prism to break white light into many colors & study the various wave lengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness & illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is?
You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct?
Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present."

Finally the young man asked the professor,”Sir, does evil exist?"

Now uncertain, the professor responded, ”Of course, as I have already said. We see it everyday. It is in the daily examples of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime & violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.

To this the student replied, ”Evil does not exist, sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness & cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God.
God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat, or the darkness
That comes when there is no light."

The professor sat down.

Annual Camp Reflection

This year annual camp was a failure

We lost a key. After the camp, we spend one hour to find it. We split in to groups to search for the key around the school. In the end, we found the key in one of our friend’s pocket. I can tell that sir was very pissed.

It was a very meaningful experience. We lost the key, due to our lack of teamwork, lack of civilization, lack of responsibility. We spent the next hour to find the key, only to find it in our friend’s pocket.

This made me realize that while we are busy with our life, without organization, we tend to miss out simple key points that will lead to complete failure to our activities. These key points are actually very simple and close to us, just that we are so busy that we miss them.

This annual camp was a failure, but failure is the key to success.

First Post

Yo. This is a newly created blog. Actually, i am not sure if i can be committed to keep this blog as alive as possible, therefore i apologise in advance if this blog is going to end up died somehow. The main reason i want to create this blog is so that 3-4 years later, when i look back, i can smile sweetly at those memories. This blog still have a lot of room for improvement.
